Mat’s Hot Shop began as a passion project from musician-turned-maker Mat Garthwaite, who traded the stage for spice. What started as a few bottles sold at local markets grew into a cult destination for hot sauce lovers, championing natural, Australian-made condiments.

Mat’s Hot Shop is a Collingwood-born brand created by DJ-turned-maker Mat Garthwaite. What began as a market stall became a global name in craft hot sauce. The brand identity captures Mat’s personality and love of baseball, designed to stand proudly on shelves from Melbourne to the world.

When Mat set out to expand from pop-ups to his own label and flagship store, we reimagined his brand from the ground up. The goal was to create a bold, character-driven identity that could live on shelves worldwide while still feeling personal and unmistakably him.

I built a typography system and mascot inspired by Mat’s own personality and love of baseball, creating a visual voice that was confident, fun, and globally ready. From the first Peachango Tango label to an entire product line, the brand now stands proudly in stores from Melbourne, USA & Japan. Winning awards and leading the new wave of craft hot sauce.
